Privacy, Cookies & Accessibility

The short version

RUNEHOLM does not use tracking cookies, advertising, analytics, or profiling — on the website or in the app. We don't sell or share your data. There is no signup form, no account and no mailing list: the website collects nothing from you at all, beyond the request logs any web host keeps. The desktop app runs locally on your PC and does not send us your files or activity.

What we collect

Server logs

Our host (Vercel) processes standard server request logs, which can include your IP address and browser user-agent, to serve the site and protect it from abuse. These are not used to identify or profile you.

What we do not collect

• No accounts, passwords, or payment details on this site.
• No advertising or analytics cookies, no cross-site tracking, no fingerprinting.
• No data from inside the desktop app (see “The desktop app”).

Cookies, consent & local storage

This website sets no tracking or advertising cookies, and uses no analytics or profiling. The only data stored on your device is a single local storage value recording your cookie-consent choice — strictly functional, kept on your device, never sent to us.

Your choice is respected. On your first visit you're asked to Accept or Decline (declining is exactly as easy as accepting). The only non-essential thing consent controls is loading live deal prices from CheapShark, a third party that would receive your IP address. If you Decline, we do not contact CheapShark and simply show a representative preview instead. Essential, cookieless content (the site itself, self-hosted fonts, and game cover images) always loads. You can change your mind any time by clearing this site's storage in your browser.

Third-party services (and what leaves your browser)

To function, some parts of the site load resources from other providers. When your browser requests them, those providers receive your IP address and request details. We have removed avoidable third parties (for example, fonts are now self-hosted so Google never sees your requests). The remaining ones are:

None of these are used by us for advertising or profiling. Each provider has its own privacy policy.

Legal basis for processing (GDPR / UK GDPR)

• Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — when you choose to load live deal prices, which sends a request to CheapShark. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — serving the website securely and reliably (essential logs, abuse prevention, loading functional resources).

Your rights

If you are in the EU/EEA, the UK, or a region with similar laws, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email support@runeholm.dev and we'll action it promptly. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Retention: we do not hold a database of personal data about you. There is no signup, no account and no mailing list on this site, so in practice the only records that exist are our host's short-lived request logs. Anything you send us by email is kept only as long as it takes to answer you.

International data transfers

Some processors above (e.g. Vercel, GitHub, CheapShark, the Steam CDN) are based in or route through the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA/UK, it relies on the providers' safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where applicable. We keep the personal data we hold to the absolute minimum — in practice, none beyond server logs.

The desktop app

The RUNEHOLM desktop app is local-first and read-only by default. It scans your drives, launchers and caches on your own machine to show you what's there. It has no telemetry, no account, and never uploads your files, game list, or activity to us or anyone. Its only outbound network requests are to public, keyless endpoints for features you use: Steam (cover art & live player counts), CheapShark (deal prices), and GitHub (checking for and downloading app updates). Every cleanup action is opt-in, confirmed, and goes to the Recycle Bin — never a permanent delete.

Accessibility statement

We want RUNEHOLM to be usable by everyone. We aim to conform to WCAG 2.2 Level AA and the European accessibility standard EN 301 549 (supporting the European Accessibility Act) and the ADA.

Measures we take

• Semantic HTML landmarks and a logical heading order.
• Full keyboard operability with visible focus indicators.
• Text and interactive elements meeting AA contrast ratios.
• Descriptive text alternatives; decorative images and the 3D background are hidden from assistive tech.
• A “skip to content” link, and support for prefers-reduced-motion (animations, including the loading and background effects, are reduced or disabled).
• Responsive layouts that reflow to 320 px and support zoom to 200%.

Known limitations

The animated 3D background is purely decorative, marked aria-hidden, and disabled when reduced-motion is requested. If you encounter any barrier, please tell us — we treat accessibility issues as priority fixes.
